As demand for online meeting technology continues to grow, Barco has moved into the Microsoft Teams Room market with its ClickShare solution, and Midwich is supporting that journey.
Demand for meeting room technology continues to grow in the UK. Having online meeting facilities is now viewed as business critical for many, not only for those with hybrid workforces but also as time and resource efficient ways of meeting with clients.
But alongside this, customer needs are maturing as they increasingly want higher specification equipment to provide as engaging a meeting experience as possible for everyone.
To this end, earlier this year Barco launched its ClickShare Hub room system bundles, developed in partnership with Sennheiser and officially certified for Microsoft Teams.
It is one of the first wireless room systems built on the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform, says Anthony Wright, sales director at Barco. “This means it has enterprise-grade security and offers native support for Intune and Microsoft’s device management tools,”
he explains.
Having the Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) certification is also important. “End users are increasingly demanding this,” says Anthony. “Organisations are increasingly standardising their meeting room spaces and are looking at fully certified products because it obviously ensures security, reliability and easy management. That’s a key factor why we jumped into this market.”
The Microsoft certification comes on top of the established ClickShare technology. “ClickShare Hub offers features such as one-click join and a plug-in button that enables users to wirelessly share content in 4K in a video conference as well as during in-person meetings,” says Anthony. “It adds a lot more flexibility to the meeting room experience. Its ease of use and simplicity are a massive attraction to end users.
“End users and resellers will like the modularity element provided by the certified bundles because a lot of the solutions in the market are within fixed ecosystems. But the ClickShare Hub, thanks to its modularity, has the flexibility to be tailored to individual meeting rooms.”
Filling demand
Jenny Hicks, technical director at Midwich, a distributor for Barco’s ClickShare products, says that Barco’s solution is filling a demand that customers have been asking for.
“We commonly see meeting rooms kitted out for a single presenter or meeting host in mind and the reality is, particularly in larger spaces, multiple people want to present, and it can require a lot of preparation to get slides into one single presentation or pass control from person to person,” she says. “If you’ve got multiple people in the room and they’ve got a laptop, the need to share content ad hoc is common. Currently, many rooms require users to double join the Teams meeting. And as much as we can all understand that we need to turn off our speakers and mute our microphone, it doesn’t happen. And that awkward feedback loop occurs and creates delay, which becomes frustrating.
“But ClickShare, being wireless, removes the need for this and makes it a frictionless experience.”
Anthony adds that new features will be brought into ClickShare as well in time. “We will enhance it by introducing firmware updates to bring more functionality to meeting rooms,” he says.
Significant interest
Anthony says that the reaction from the market since the product was launched at the beginning of 2026 has been strong. “We have several proof of concepts taking place currently and we’ve had a lot of interest from existing ClickShare customers who want to move towards that native MTR.
Midwich has also seen significant interest in the solution. “By being certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms, this brings something new to the table, and our role is to help partners and end customers understand the solution through demonstrations, training and hands-on experience,” says Mark Wysocki, business manager at Midwich.
“You can make many assumptions about a new version of a product from a spec sheet but until you receive training from a certified partner or from the manufacturer, you don’t get that deep knowledge that is required.”
Midwich is currently promoting ClickShare across the country. “We have various events coming up that we are inviting partners to where we can show them everything the products do and educate them on their applications,” says Mark.
Midwich will be demonstrating Barco’s ClickShare solution at Tech North on 21 April 2026 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.
