The new G42 AOC Gaming monitors: Fast IPS panels in 3 sizes

AGON by AOC has unveiled the new G42 series of gaming monitors:

23.8-inch (60.5 cm) 24G42E
24.5-inch (62.2 cm) 25G42E, and
27-inch (68.6 cm) 27G42E.

These new models are equipped with the latest-generation Fast IPS panels, which can deliver 180 Hz refresh rates and up to 1 ms GtG response times, making competitive-grade gaming performance more accessible than ever before. Today, thanks to the G42 series, gamers shouldn’t settle with monitors below 180 Hz, triple of the common 60 Hz standard.

GtG: Grey-to-grey (GtG) functions on what is called a middle gradation, meaning these pixels do not become fully inactive. LCD GtGs have roughly 256 gradations of grey. Grey-to-grey response times are much faster and are great for those interested in better gaming experiences and videography.

Each of the new G42 models features a Fast IPS panel with Full HD resolution (1920×1080) to drive high frame rates easily even with low/mid-tier GPUs, delivering fluid visuals with response times of up to 1 ms GtG and 0.5 ms MPRT (using Motion Blur Reduction). The panels excel not only in speed but also in visual quality, having a gamut coverage (CIE 1976) of over 90% of the DCI-P3 colour space and 120% of the sRGB gamut area (CIE 1976), while maintaining the excellent response time characteristics, wide viewing angles (178° horizontal/178° vertical) and motion clarity of the latest generation IPS panel technology. César Acosta, Gaming Product Manager at AGON by AOC commented:

“By setting a 180 Hz refresh rate as the new base standard in our most affordable series, the G42 series marks another step in our mission to make high-performance gaming accessible to all. As a brand, our main target is high-performance gaming monitors driven by extreme levels of immersion and refresh rates. We work hard to take gaming performance to the next level with every new generation. These are great achievements for us as well as the gaming community since we can create a waterfall effect and make advanced technologies available for everyone.”

Focussed on the essentials
The G42 series monitors retain core gaming features including Shadow Control for better visibility in dark scenes, Game Colour presets to adjust colour saturation, Motion Blur Reduction (MBR) setting to increase perceived motion clarity, and an integrated Dial Point crosshair to help gamers aim in immersive, hardcore titles without an in-game crosshair. To toggle these settings and more, the OSD menu is accessible via the on-board buttons, as well as the G-Menu software. The monitors support Adaptive-Sync technology for tear-free gaming with AMD and Nvidia GPUs and are also compatible with current-gen gaming consoles at 1080p/120 Hz.

Each model features a space-efficient, ESports-inspired stand design with tilt adjustment (-5°/23°) and 100×100 VESA mount compatibility. Connectivity includes 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.0 inputs, providing versatility for both PC and console gaming. With 300 nits of peak brightness and HDR10 compliance, these monitors deliver vibrant visuals across all gaming genres and improve usability in brightly lit rooms. A 3.5 mm audio jack is present and provides easy connectivity directly to the monitor for gaming headsets or external speakers.

A model for every setup
The G42 series offers three distinct sizes to match different gaming preferences and screen real estate requirements:

• The 24G42E 23.8-inch panel delivers a classic competitive gaming format, with the highest pixel density for extra sharpness

• The 25G42E features a 24.5-inch display, matching the most commonly used size in ESports with a good balance of screen size and sharpness

• The 27G42E provides a larger 27-inch screen for bigger desks while maintaining the affordable price

All 3 sizes are affordably priced and will be available from February 2025. Interested parties should contact their resellers or distributors for pricing details.
