Mentor Group launches Mentor Labs

Sales training company Mentor Group has launched Mentor Labs, its latest suite of sales training solutions.

Powered by partnerships with cloud-based immersive learning platform AliveSim and artificial intelligence-powered role-play training software PitchMonster, Mentor Labs provides users with on-demand, highly targeted virtual scenarios designed to test and consolidate critical sales skills in non-customer facing environments.

The skills included in the solutions include negotiation, objection handling, optimal decision patterns, communication techniques, and more. The solutions can also be designed around existing training content to breathe new life into sales training programmes.

James Barton, Chief Solutions Officer, at Mentor Group, said: “The worst thing a sales professional can do – or be asked to do – is to practice new skills and techniques on potential customers. The solutions within Mentor Labs have been designed to remove that risk from the process entirely, providing a risk-free environment to put their learnings into practice. They will be able to embed the skills they have learned before they face a customer.”

The solutions leveraged by Mentor Labs utilise emerging technologies including virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI) – such as chatbots to test knowledge retention or generate data analytics – to provide sales leaders with critical insights into the performance of their sales teams.

Tech giant Lenovo has achieved impressive results through its collaboration with Mentor Group to implement immersive VR training. Despite the challenges of capturing learning and development (L&D) metrics, the impact on learners has been substantial. Post-training, participants reported a 38% increase in confidence, with an average job role success rating of 8.5 out of 10, highlighting the effectiveness of the programme in enhancing employee performance.

Corran Wilde, EMEA Sales Development Program Manager at Lenovo said: “Collaborating with Mentor Group to deliver VR training has been a resounding success at Lenovo. We’ve had employees request for additional VR training and demand for the programme is high amongst our sales teams. When we think back to the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, virtual delivery seemed so complex. Now, it’s second nature and VR training has firmly become a part of Lenovo’s approach to L&D.”

Matt Webb, CEO, at Mentor Group said: “Virtual reality and artificial intelligence are helping to facilitate the learning of tomorrow, especially within the sales environment. By embracing solutions that maximise the benefits of VR and AI, Mentor Labs can help any organisation radically transform the revenue performance of their sales teams, at every stage of the sales journey.”
