Zoom positions Zoom Spaces as an AI-first Platform

Zoom is updating its approach to hybrid collaboration with new tools designed to improve how modern offices operate.

Central to this effort is Zoom Spaces, a workplace platform that brings together room management, desk booking, and meeting experiences, with added AI capabilities to help simplify day-to-day use for both IT teams and employees.

New AI features in Zoom Spaces are intended to make in-office work more predictable and easier to manage.

Workspace Reservation now includes proactive recommendations to help employees find available rooms and desks more efficiently. Enhanced voice commands for Zoom Rooms, planned for release later in February 2026, will allow limited hands-free control of meetings and room functions.

Jeff Smith, head of Product for Workplace AI, Meetings, and Spaces at Zoom, as well as currently interim Chief Product Officer, comments:

“AI has become a central part of our digital workday, and in order to be successful, organizations need to harness its power to transform workspaces into intelligent, connected environments that can adapt to people’s needs. Adding AI to physical spaces helps teams maximize office use, increase collaboration, and drive meaningful business impact.”

Many organisations continue to face issues such as inconsistent meeting room technology, scheduling conflicts, and disconnected tools. Zoom Spaces aims to address these challenges by consolidating workplace functions into a more consistent user experience. As a result, room and desk booking can be handled within familiar Zoom interfaces, and meetings can be managed more smoothly across different spaces.

Incremental AI enhancements for everyday collaboration from Zoom include voice-assisted meeting controls. Enhanced voice commands in Zoom Rooms will allow users to trigger basic actions such as creating a Zoom Whiteboard or retrieving action items.

Additional features, including smart name tags and improved captions and transcripts, are designed to support clearer meetings (Expected February 2026).

Zoom is also working on offering broader ecosystem support through third-party hardware and services, such as Zoom for Cisco Rooms and Vizrt integration. Workspace Reservation on mobile updates the booking experience with simpler navigation and AI-based recommendations. (Expected February 2026.)
