In a deal that is set to reshape the dynamics of the IT services industry, Softcat has announced its first acquisition, that of the Leeds-based IT service provider, Oakland. This strategic move strengthens Softcat’s position in the market and enhances its service offerings to a broader range of clients.
Graham Charlton, CEO of Softcat, has stated, “their (Oakland’s) capability in a very important area for our customers”. The acquisition promises enhanced data and AI solutions for Softcat’s customer base.
It is estimated that ‘around 70’ Oakland employees will transfer to Softcat.
Charlton has also stated, “We have worked with Oakland for years now and know them well, and I couldn’t be more excited to have their energy, enthusiasm and great talent joining forces with Softcat.”
CEO of Oakland, Richard Corderoy, has expressed his delight, and stated, “This announcement is significant as we celebrate our 40th anniversary. Oakland has consistently evolved over the past four decades from our origins in John Oakland’s pioneering work in quality and operational excellence to our proud identity today as specialists in ‘Everything Data.’ We reinvented ourselves many times along the way, and today’s news feels like a natural next step in our journey.”
Corderoy continued, “Having collaborated closely with the Softcat team as clients for several years, it became clear we share common values, culture, and a strong commitment to delivering great work. This alignment makes me incredibly excited about the opportunities this partnership creates, particularly for our exceptional team. Our clients will also benefit significantly, gaining access to enhanced data solutions, greater efficiency, and advanced decision-making capabilities.”
Corderoy finally added, “We will continue as Oakland and Softcat have shown such love for our brand and our ‘Everything Data’ ethos that they plan to integrate this approach into their broader business, truly making us stronger together. I very much look forward to our shared future and the achievements we can unlock together.”
The integration of Oakland’s services marks a promising new phase that industry watchers will be keenly following.
