Community Fibre will launch the Unlimited UK Mobile eSIM, offering an affordable unlimited mobile plan and fast 5G speeds with a flexible, monthly contract.
Developed in partnership with Gamma Communications plc and app developer Zappter and launching in June, this new mobile eSIM offers unlimited UK data, calls and SMS for £15/month for Community Fibre broadband customers and £17/month for non-broadband customers. Those already signed up to Community Fibre’s broadband can add additional Unlimited Mobile eSIMs, so family members can benefit too.
No need for a Physical SIM card
The monthly renewing product provides customers with a flexible mobile option that can be activated directly on compatible smartphones and tablets via eSIM technology, without the need for a physical SIM card. Customers can also use the service for hotspotting and tethering with compatible devices.
With eSIM adoption accelerating across the UK, industry estimates suggest that around 60–75% of smartphones currently in use and almost 100% of new handsets are now eSIM-capable (according to Community Fibre’s research). This creates a growing opportunity with approximately 32–40 million eSIM capable devices nationwide. Growth is being driven by increasing support from mobile operators, the popularity of travel eSIMs, and the widespread adoption of newer smartphones.
Community Fibre owns and operates its own full fibre broadband network, and this new initiative alongside a lean digital mobile model, enables it to offer highly competitive pricing to customers in both broadband and mobile.
Add International Connectivity when needed
Customers purchasing Community Fibre broadband and the Unlimited UK mobile eSIM together can make significant annual savings when compared to other existing plans. Community Fibre’s mobile offer also includes a travel eSIM that provides country-specific roaming bundles with set allowances. Customers can enjoy fast 5G speeds in the UK and add international connectivity when needed, without long-term contracts.
Prepaid roaming data plans are available for more than 160 countries from as little as £2.29, with savings of up to 96% on offer. The service will be available on the Community Fibre mobile app through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Commenting on the announcement, Graeme Oxby, Chief Executive Officer of Community Fibre, said:
“The mobile market has become increasingly expensive and complicated for consumers, despite the technology becoming simpler and more digital. With our growth in mobile, we’re taking a different approach — delivering fast, unlimited 5G connectivity at a highly competitive price, with the flexibility customers increasingly expect. Because we build, own and operate our full fibre broadband network, we’ve created a model that allows us to offer better long-term value across both broadband and mobile. This launch is another step in delivering the highest-quality and most affordable services for our customers.”
Olaf Swantee, Community Fibre Chairman, added:
“This launch reflects the strength of the business we’ve built — combining infrastructure ownership, innovation and operational efficiency to deliver better value for customers in both broadband and mobile.”
The launch builds on Community Fibre’s continued growth across London and the southeast, where its full fibre network now passes 1.4 million homes and more than 185,000 businesses within 200 metres of its infrastructure. Its customer base has now reached 450,000, maintaining strong year on year growth. The provider offers residential speeds of up to 5 Gbps and business packages up to 10 Gbps.
More details on Community Fibre’s new mobile product and how customers can access it will be available shortly.
