Manufacturer and distributor of advanced LED lighting systems and 19-inch racking solutions, Penn Elcom, recently made a major contribution to the prestigious Lanier Theological Library. This world-class theological resource is located within a stunningly converted 17th-century tithe barn at the historic Yarnton Manor in Oxford, UK.
Delicate and specialised lighting required
Given the 17th-century barn’s unique architectural heritage, the project required a delicate, highly specialised lighting approach to preserve the building’s historical integrity while providing optimal illumination for a functioning library.
Working closely with the project’s lead electrician and the appointed joinery company, Penn Elcom designed and supplied a comprehensive, custom LED lighting solution tailored to the library’s extensive shelving system. To meet the exacting demands of the installation, the Penn Elcom team assembled over 1,000 bespoke lengths of premium LED tape and aluminium extrusion.
Ensuring a seamless, efficient on-site integration, every unit was pre-cut, pre-wired, carefully labelled, and delivered strictly “ready to install.” This streamlined the workflow for the joinery and electrical teams, allowing the custom shelving to be perfectly illuminated without delaying the build.
Rob Platt, Marketing Director at Penn Elcom, proudly explains:
“We are incredibly proud to have played a role in bringing the Lanier Theological Library to life. This project at Yarnton Manor perfectly highlights our capability to deliver large-scale, tailored lighting solutions that integrate flawlessly into complex, custom architectural and joinery designs.”
The Yarnton Manor project certainly highlights Penn Elcom’s ongoing commitment to delivering world-class, bespoke lighting systems for high-end architectural, educational, and heritage projects.
