Nimans opens Memorial Garden in honour of founder Julian Niman

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Nimans; a milestone that reflects founder Julian Niman’s enduring vision, his passion for innovation, and the family spirit he instilled at the heart of the Manchester-based business.

From its beginnings in 1985, Nimans has grown to become one of the UK’s leading communications distributors, a success rooted firmly in Julian Niman’s belief that “people make the difference.”

Colleagues, friends, and former employees gathered with deep respect and affection to mark the official opening of a new Memorial Garden in memory and honour of Julian. The garden was fully designed and built by Nimans staff, and led by Bob Hinder, a long-standing employee and friend to Julian. The garden was formally opened by Sue Niman, Julian’s wife, in a moving ceremony that celebrated both his legacy and the company’s remarkable journey over the past four decades.

Several former employees and friends, who worked alongside Julian for many years attended the event, joining current staff to honour his life and the values he championed. Their presence was a heartfelt reminder of the strong sense of community Julian built within the company.

Paul Burn, Managing Director of Nimans, said:

“Julian’s spirit is woven into everything we do at Nimans. This garden isn’t just a place to remember him, it’s a space to reflect on the values he lived by: hard work, loyalty, and kindness. As we celebrate 40 years of Nimans, we remain inspired by Julian’s example and determined to carry his legacy forward for the next generation.”

The Memorial Garden provides a peaceful space for reflection and remembrance, symbolising the company’s ongoing commitment to honouring its founder’s legacy while looking confidently toward the future.

Julian Niman was known for treating all staff as part of his extended family. The creation of this garden is a fitting reminder of that philosophy; a living monument to the man who built not just a business, but a community.
