AV Mounting Solutions for Summer Installations: Peerless-AV Insights

Many AV installations are planned for the summer and project planning needs to include AV mounting solutions. UC Advanced spoke to Thomas Fenton, Director of Technical & Product Development, EMEA, Peerless-AV for some good advice and insights on AV mounts.

AV installations are planned for the summer, especially in the Education sector where classrooms are not in use, and in the Corporate sector when employees are away from offices on their summer holidays. The flatscreens brands and sizes have hopefully been selected and the budget makes provision for mounts that enable the equipment to be displayed in the best possible position and safe for all to see and use.

Important factors to consider

When picking AV mounts and mobile display trolleys for today’s hybrid work environments, it is important to consider the flexibility these solutions provide. For example, in a corporate meeting space where video conferencing is needed, a mobile display trolley allows employees to move a largescale, interactive display from room to room. It also allows for interaction with the display while on-camera and easy communication with remote employees. This also allows any room to become a meeting space quickly and easily. The display is not required to be used within only one meeting room being mounted to a wall. It provides the flexibility needed for in-office employees to collaborate with remote employees from any open meeting space.

With regards to handling of Professional displays, it’s fairly obvious that the larger size you go, you will need to ensure that weight is distributed over a larger surface. Mounting and trolley/stand solutions are available for the latest ultrawide and ultra large format displays that offer the highest levels of UL safety certification both during installation and when in-situ. Typically, a 55” screen is a two-man lift for the awkwardness of the size but in modern times the lift is more manageable for a single person. Also, quality mounting solutions will come with easy hang hardware that helps facilitate a quick and easy one person install.

For offices that are looking for a more permanent mounting solution that allows for mass collaboration of in-office and remote employees, largescale dvLED video walls are another popular solution making waves in the corporate space. This option may not be ideal for every corporation, however, for corporations that regularly host virtual meetings and trainings, the investment is worth it. The latest universal dvLED mounting systems offer flexibility, scalability and adjustability in the installation of these video walls.

What’s new?

For corporate spaces that are seeking simplified mounting of LCD displays and media components for UC/VC applications, the new SmartMount® Universal Scissor Wall Mount offers the ideal solution. The mount can be installed direct-to-wall or in a recess featuring open-access design, optional universal AV component trays, and post-installation adjustability, all saving valuable install time on site. The extendable adapter arms allow displays to be pulled out 12” (305 mm) from the wall, granting unprecedented access to the back of the display. This extended access allows for unrestricted installation and maintenance of components, power and cabling without removing the display, while also offering versatile placement options for outlets and in-wall boxes.

The adapter arms can be adjusted and tensioned to any depth so that the display sits flush to the wall or in custom-built recessed applications. Additional post-installation levelling, lateral adjustment and Increlok™ Tilt Technology features allow fine-tuning to achieve the perfect finish. The built-in automatic spring locks and quick-release cords further simplify installation and maintenance.

With the ACC-UCM2 optional accessory, a single installer can pre-install, configure, and cable AV components ahead of time off-site. This allows the installer to simply hook the pre-configured trays onto the STS650 (left, right, or both sides), significantly reducing installation time and ensuring cables and components are neatly installed behind the display, out of view.

AV terms used:

UL safety certification

UL certification is a safety certification that meets specific safety standards and provides assurance of quality, reliability, and compliance with market regulations. It is particularly important for electrical and electronic devices.

SmartMount® Universal Scissor Wall Mount

Known for its scissor-like extension mechanism, this mount allows users to pull the display away from the wall and adjust it to the desired viewing angle. It folds back towards the wall when not in use.

Increlok™ Tilt Technology

IncreLok™ Tilt Technology is a feature allowing for fixed tilt adjustments in 5-degree increments, enabling users to precisely lock the tilt angle of their display at their preferred viewing angle, preventing accidental tampering or movement.

ACC-UCM2

A flexible mounting accessory for storing media players and other AV components in a discreet, hidden area behind the mounted display.

UC Advanced wishes all MSPs, resellers, and installation teams a productive and successful summer of mounting AV devices with flexible, safe, and future-proof AV mounting solutions.
