A Step Back in Time with the HMD Barbie™ Phone

The HMD Barbie™ Phone is here to provide a fun, retro escape. This pint-sized feature flip phone, a product of a partnership between Human Mobile Devices and Mattel, is all about taking a break from the constant pull of social media and living more in the real world. It’s designed for calls and texts, and has no social media capabilities, enabling the user to just have fun without the constant pings of notifications.

Embrace the Barbie Style

Thie very-much-pink phone comes in iconic Barbie pink tones and features hidden designs of palm trees, hearts and flamingos that light up in the dark. The moment you turn on the phone, a friendly “Hi Barbie” voice greets you and even a missed call notification from Ken! The phone also brings back replaceable covers and includes cute accessories like crystals, stickers and a Barbie-style beaded phone strap.

A Break from the Digital World

Speaking about the launch, Lars Silberbauer, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Human Mobile Devices, said:

“In our fast-paced digital world, it can often feel like the online buzz never stops. This phone encourages you to ditch your smartphone in times when you just want less browsing and more fun, all with the help of a true cultural icon, Barbie.”

Ruth Henriquez, Head of Licensing at Mattel EMEA, added that the phone is a testament to Mattel’s commitment to design and innovation, and it taps into the growing trend of people wanting to limit their screen time.

The new HMD Barbie™ Phone launched on 28 August 2024.
