Zoom App designed for Android XR

Zoom has launched a new app designed for Android XR, Google’s platform for extended reality (XR) devices, empowering users to collaborate with colleagues and customers in a more immersive environment. Zoom’s app for Android XR is designed as a seamless extension of the Zoom Workplace app for users to collaborate via technology like VR headsets and smart glasses.

“Zoom Workplace on Android XR gives people an innovative way to connect with each other,” stated Jeff Smith, head of Product for Workplace AI, Meetings, and Spaces at Zoom. “Our new app for Android XR allows people to choose how they connect to get more work done from anywhere.”

Users will be able to leverage a number of Zoom Workplace features with the Zoom app on Android XR, such as:

  • Joining Zoom Meetings from an Android XR-enabled device to connect with colleagues and customers in a fully immersive, virtual reality environment or they can switch to pass-through mode to stay engaged with the real world.
  • Harness the power of AI Companion from the side panel, using voice to text to enter prompts such as “Catch me up on the meeting I just missed” or “What are my action items from my last meeting?”
  • Watch Zoom Clips and create a Zoom Whiteboard from within an Android XR-enabled device
