UK Connect has launched a new unique field engineer as-a-service offer for MSPs and channel partners.
Already well-established in providing fixed wireless access and wireless connectivity across Britain, UK Connect is now solving customers’ field engineering problems.
UK Connect Professional Services provides a credit-based, on-demand model that lets MSPs and channel partners scale their field operations nationally without incurring the cost of hiring in-house.
Partners buy credits and deploy fully-vetted, senior field engineers anywhere in the UK, with no contracts, minimum commitment, or recruitment overhead.
Finding a Field Engineer When You Need One
MSPs and channel partners often struggle to source field engineers when it matters most. Approximately three-in-four MSPs say field ops is their biggest challenge (based on UK Connect research). Approximately one third of subcontracted field engineers fail to turn up, arrive late, or attend with the incorrect equipment.
This presents an administrative nightmare for MSPs and channel partners. The average field job takes more than two hours to organise, with as much as 15-20 per cent of field job margin lost to coordination overhead. MSPs are putting their reputation and hard-won customer relationships on the line by subcontracting untested field engineers, and so often hiring in-house is a cost-prohibitive option.
UK Connect Professional Services
MSPs can visit the UK Connect Professional Services website, and book in a job via email. As soon as a job is confirmed, UK Connect’s system automatically generates a full engineering brief, such as site details, access instructions, scope of work, contact info, and any special requirements. A field engineer with at least five years’ experience can be dispatched to any postcode across the United Kingdom. A detailed completion report is generated and delivered digitally once the job has been completed, including a full job checklist, and engineer sign-off. Professional documentation is provided on every job.
UK Connect Professional Services is already trusted by a whole host of MSPs, WISPs, and IT consultancies across the UK. Currently more than 3,100+ jobs are completed annually with a 97% first-time fix rate across all break-fix callouts.
Customer Example: Signal Solutions
Mobile connectivity specialist Signal Solutions was supporting one of their customers who was experiencing issues with an existing CEL-FI deployment. The setup wasn’t performing as expected, and the customer needed answers quickly. With the site based in Scotland and the issue requiring hands on investigation, Signal Solutions needed a trusted engineer on site fast, to survey the installation, troubleshoot the problem, and provide clear technical recommendations.
So, Signal Solutions turned to UK Connect Professional Services. Within a few days of the request being raised, a qualified engineer was deployed to site. On site, the engineer surveyed the existing CEL-FI Setup, investigated performance issues and installation factors, identified the root cause of the problem, and documented findings clearly. Following the visit, UK Connect produced a concise technical report outlining, what was causing the issue, what changes were required, along with clear, and practical recommendations for remediation.
Sara Rose, Channel & Partner Manager, UK Connect Professional Services said:
“Most MSPs look at their field engineering costs and see one number: the engineer’s salary. But that number is only the beginning. By the time you add employer’s National Insurance, pension contributions, van lease, fuel, insurance, tools, PPE, training, and the management overhead of scheduling and dispatching — the true cost of a single in-house field engineer is typically 35–45% higher than their base salary. Our model removes virtually all of these costs from your balance sheet. You pay per-job, with credits that scale up and down with your workload. No vehicles, no employer’s NI, no holiday cover headaches. Just a vetted, senior engineer on-site when and where you need them.”
Mark Rose, Director, Signal Solutions said:
“When performance issues arose at a customer site in Scotland, we needed fast, dependable on-site support to protect both the installation and the client relationship. UK Connect deployed a competent engineer quickly, carried out a thorough assessment, and delivered clear, practical recommendations. Their professionalism and speed allowed us to resolve the issue efficiently while maintaining full confidence in the quality of service delivered under our brand.”
