Lightware and Lenovo Join Forces to Upgrade Microsoft Teams Rooms

In a strategic collaboration, Lightware Visual Engineering and Lenovo have teamed up to integrate advanced devices and software to boost any Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) experience. The collaboration is intended to enhance user interaction and functionality in modern meeting room environments.

Lenovo’s ThinkSmart Full Room Kit

Among Lenovo’s wide-ranging Unified Communication (UC) solutions is its ThinkSmart Full Room Kit MTR bundle. This comprehensive package incorporates a central computer, AI-enhanced camera, control interface and a smart soundbar with microphones. It also includes Premier Support and top-tier remote manageability software.

Lightware’s Advanced Taurus Devices and LARA Control Software

Lightware’s Taurus series hybrid matrix switchers and LARA (Lightware Advanced Room Automation) control software will be integrated with Lenovo’s technology. This integration will enhance the Lenovo Microsoft Teams Rooms infrastructure, allowing for the routing of video and USB signals and enabling BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) peripherals to connect to the MTR system. Once a BYOD call has ended, Taurus will automatically revert the video and peripherals back to the MTR system.

Expanded Integration and Real-Time Feedback

The Taurus devices expand the number of sources that can be integrated with the Lenovo MTR system, supporting USB-C and traditional HDMI+USB connections. Furthermore, the Lightware Companion App, installed on the Lenovo core, provides real-time call status feedback to LARA. This feedback enables smart logic functions, automatic switching and routing with or without user interaction.

Taurus as a Central Room Controller

Taurus is not just a device, but it can also serve as a central room controller. The user interface runs within LARA and is displayed on the Lenovo screen. This arrangement allows users to access room control functions such as volume, lighting, projector/display and many more.

“Lightware is excited to collaborate with Lenovo to enhance meeting room experiences. Our Taurus series and LARA software bring seamless integration and advanced functionality to Lenovo’s ThinkSmart meeting room solutions,” commented Gergely Vida, CEO of Lightware. “Together, we are setting new standards for collaboration technology.”

Final Thoughts

The strategic collaboration between Lightware and Lenovo is a promising partnership that aims to create engaging BYOM-compliant spaces and provide an enhanced user experience. This fusion of technology amplifies the overall functionality of meeting room spaces and both companies are committed to making meetings more productive and efficient.
