HP’s Work Relationship Index 2025’s opening gambit is “Work isn’t working”, and improving employee’s relationship with work by creating a work experience that aligns technology, leadership and culture in service of people, is key.
HP Inc. recently launched 14 new innovations designed to help people work without limits with greater ease and purpose, and one of those products is the HP Series 5 Pro 14” Portable Monitor, which is expected to be available in December 2025.
Relationship with Work
As the modern workforce operates across office, remote, and mobile environments, employees need technology that enables seamless productivity, collaboration, and creativity. However, findings from HP’s 2025 Working Relationship Index¹ reveal that only 20% of knowledge workers feel they have access to the technology needed to truly support this hybrid way of working.
Whilst workers sometimes cannot control what work they do, they can improve their relationship with it, by having the right tools in place.
Work Anywhere Mindset
Today’s employees expect a hybrid experience that works anywhere: in the office, at home, or on the go, all whilst empowering them to be confident, creative and productive. An element of the future of work is personalised workspaces to spark ideas and elevate performance.
As Umang Patel, Senior Manager, NPI Displays and Docks at HP puts it, “Work today isn’t always confined to one desk, one device or even one way of doing things.”
Whilst our workspaces are changing shape and location, they do still need to keep up with the demands and pace we desire of them.
Umang Patel insightfully states, “Business applications and workflows have become more open-ended and deeply integrated. Applications like Miro and Office have larger and larger digital footprints to capture ideas, and there really are no limits to the numbers of pages, tabs, worksheets or windows we can have open.”
Hence, with such ‘endless possibilities’ with apps and workflows, many end users find themselves in real need of some screen estate. Enter the portable monitor.
Personalising Workspace
With the HP Series 5 Pro 14” Portable Monitor, workers needing flexibility, such as sales professionals and creative experts on-the-go, are no longer confined to one screen. By utilising a portable monitor they can double their screens for more possibilities, such as dumping data or viewing emails on one screen, whilst working on spreadsheets and documents on another. Additionally, isolating one screen for shared viewing in collaborative meetings retains privacy on the secondary screen for remote and on-the-go workers.
The new HP portable monitor is a Neo:LED commercial portable monitor with dual 100% colour coverage, which is perfect for end users requiring a second display for colour-critical workflows. It offers WQXGA (Wide Quad Extended Graphics Array) resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and IPS (In-Plane Switching) Black with Neo:LED panel technology for striking brightness and clarity.
At 400 nits brightness, the portable monitor’s brightness is good for indoor use and most shaded outdoor situations, providing a clear and bright display for general tasks like office work, browsing, and media consumption.
Portable Ports
Ports are essential on portable monitors because they enable connectivity for video, power, and data, allowing the monitor to function and connect to a laptop, phone, or other devices.
Ports such as USB-C and HDMI are key for video input, while USB-C also handles power and data transfer, often simplifying the setup with a single cable. A USB-C port can be used for HDMI, but it requires the USB-C port to support video output, which is common for most laptops and newer mobile devices. A USB Type-C® to Type-C cable device is supplied (check regional specifications); however the end user may need a USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable to connect to other device’s HDMI ports.
The HP Series 5 Pro 14” Portable Monitor has 2x USB-C® ports (up to 65W USB Power Delivery, Alt Mode DisplayPort™ 1.2).
Handy Features
The silver integrated low profile kickstand lets users enjoy the monitor in portrait and landscape positions, at various angles best suited to their preferences.
The protective hard screen cover, which is magnetic, doubles as a mousepad, for those on-the-go moments when a mousepad is needed.
Portable Possibilities
The current HP slogan is “Work Happy”, and indeed, one can work happy with a portable monitor. However, perhaps HP’s slogan before the turn of the century is even more applicable to the HP Series 5 Pro 14” Portable Monitor: that of “Expanding Possibilities”.
