Sarah Walker, Chief Executive of Cisco in the UK and Ireland, has released a blog today, announcing that Webex Suite data residency will be available in the United Kingdom. This addresses a gap many have not seen met in the market: the ability to embrace modern collaboration technology while maintaining the level of control their organisations require.
As Sarah comments:
“What makes this significant isn’t just where data lives, our approach inverts the traditional model; your data doesn’t need to travel to intelligence in the cloud, the intelligence comes to your data. You choose. Control stays with you.”
Organisations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland will be able to consume Webex Meetings, Messaging, Calling, Slido, Contact Centre capability and Webex’s AI Assistant with data processing and storage across Webex cloud locations in the UK.
This means:
- Data at rest and in motion stays in the UK – geographically distributed across UK locations for redundancy
- AI happens locally –AI Large Language Model (LLM) capabilities, like meeting summarisation and action item generation, are now delivered from within the UK
- Reduced latency – enhanced performance for users in the UK
- End-to-end encryption secures meetings messages and files, and is designed into the platform from the ground up.
Amit Barave, VP/GM Webex Suite & AI, Cisco Collaboration, adds:
“With Webex Suite data residency in the UK, we’re delivering both advanced AI capabilities that process locally, with control over where your data lives and how it’s protected. This is collaboration infrastructure built for how regulated industries actually operate—with enhanced digital control at its core.”
