Audio company EPOS has unveiled the IMPACT 400 Wireless, a Bluetooth headset aimed at employees working across open offices, meeting rooms and home setups.
Announced today, it is the third robust multi-featured model in the IMPACT 400 Series, joining the wired IMPACT 400 and IMPACT 400 ANC headsets already on the market.
The launch fills a gap in EPOS’s lineup: until now, IT teams choosing the IMPACT 400 family had to pick a wired headset. The new model gives them a cable-free alternative without stepping outside the same product family, so they can standardise equipment across a workforce that needs different connectivity options.
Clarity in loud environments
The headset’s main selling point is voice clarity in noisy settings. Independent lab testing, run to the Microsoft Azure Speech Test Specification, measured a 99% word-recognition rate even with background noise, and EPOS says that level of clarity also makes it easier for AI transcription tools and voice assistants to correctly interpret what’s being said.
That performance is backed by a Microsoft Teams certification specifically for “Premium Microphone for Open Office” use, on top of existing certifications for Zoom Workplace and Call Center, Google Meet, and Webex by Cisco. The microphone itself sits on an adjustable boom with AI-driven noise reduction, has a built-in mute-status LED, and can be raised or lowered to mute and unmute calls without touching a button.
Where it sits in the range
EPOS positions the IMPACT 400 Wireless as the entry point into its higher-end Bluetooth lineup: it offers professional microphone performance, active noise cancellation, long battery life and major platform certifications, but at a price built for larger-scale rollouts. Buyers who need more, such as adaptive noise cancellation, wear detection, triple-device connectivity or wireless charging, can step up to the IMPACT 500 or IMPACT 1000.
Søren Holm Printz, VP Strategy and Product Management at EPOS, has said the device is meant to solve a practical deployment problem:
“The IMPACT 400 Wireless gives organisations a practical way to equip hybrid teams with professional audio at scale. It combines certified open-office microphone performance, hybrid ANC, and long battery life in a wireless headset designed for employees who move between offices, meeting rooms and remote workplaces.”
Built to last the day — and the week
Battery life is a focus for a headset aimed at people who aren’t always near a desk. With ANC and the busy light switched on, EPOS rates it for up to 39 hours of talk time, stretching to 47 hours with ANC off; on standby for listening, that rises to 63 and 110 hours respectively. A short 20-minute top-up charge adds roughly 12 hours of talk time, and a full charge over cable takes about two hours.
Under the hood, Bluetooth Low Energy Audio and the LC3 codec keep the wireless connection efficient without sacrificing sound quality, and multipoint pairing lets the headset stay connected to both a computer and a phone at once.
Comfort and upkeep
Weighing in at 145 grams, the headset uses breathable leatherette ear pads and a boom arm that flips to either side, so it can be worn comfortably by both left- and right-handed users. It folds flat for travel between sites and has onboard controls for calls, volume, ANC and Teams integration.
EPOS also designed it for easier upkeep: the battery and ear pads can both be swapped out without tools, extending the headset’s working life. On the software side, EPOS Connect handles firmware updates and personal audio settings for individual users, while EPOS Manager gives IT departments centralised control over fleets of devices.
Price and what’s in the box
The IMPACT 400 Wireless ships with a BTD 400c USB-C Bluetooth dongle and a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter for older computers, and has a wireless range of up to 30 metres (98 feet). It sits at a MSRP of £169.99 excluding VAT and comes with a two-year limited warranty.
